I represent clients throughout the state of Rhode Island in matters relating to family law, from the initial consultation through final settlement. With over twenty years of experience in family law as a paralegal and attorney, I bring extensive legal experience, life experience, and professionalism to every case. Divorce: Divorce is full of uncertainty. You deserve an experienced partner to help navigate the Family Court system and zealously advocate for you. I help my clients make decisions that are best for themselves and , ultimately, their family. Child Custody & Parenting Time: Child custody arrangements are a pivotal aspect of family law requiring sensitive and thoughtful planning. Developing a parenting time plan that allows children meaningful time with each parent can help with the adjustment to a two-household family. I help my clients design a plan that is in the best interest of their children. Child Support: It is every parent’s obligation to contribute to the financial support of their children. Child support is based on a formula promulgated by the Family Court. I work with my clients to navigate the various factors that comprise a child support calculation. Alimony: Alimony is based on one party’s need and the other party’s ability to pay. Unlike child support, the Family Court has not provided a formula to calculate alimony. I can help you understand if you are a viable alimony candidate, or if you are at risk of paying alimony. Division of Assets: Rhode Island has adopted the “equitable distribution” theory of division of marital assets. I will work with you to prepare various options for the division of assets, from real estate and retirement accounts to personal property. Modification: Life happens. If circumstances have changed, a modification to existing custody, parenting time, child support or other child-related orders may warrant a modification. I am happy to review your existing agreement/orders to see if a modification is a viable option. Mediation: Divorce mediation is a constructive and amicable approach for couples seeking to end their marriage without the adversarial nature of traditional divorce proceedings. It empowers both parties to collaborate with a neutral party, fostering open communication and mutual respect. I am a mediator certified by the state of Rhode Island
